The design of the building has as a purpose to
give an answer to the constant urban problem
which results from the relationship of two perpendicular roads- the corner.
The building is situated within the perimeter of the
historical center where the existing architectural
language is characterized by various influences
ranging from neoclassical, structures of the 60's,
70' and 90's.
The urban fabric can be characterized as chaotic
resulting from the overlapping of the various typologies.
Therefore the design intention was to
create a continuous skin along the traffic arteries
which to underline the urban grid. The building
has been organized into three zones.
1. The three storey zone area of the ground level,
is characterized by the openness and is dressed
with glass and black granite.
2. The three storey zone of the office area demanded
for more solid approach in order to symbolize
the completeness, which has been
achieved through the use of beige marble.
3. The top level of the open plan restaurant area
comes to underline the openness - emptiness
again and is dressed with glass.
Eventually the "corner" has been resolved
through the glazed cylinder that comes to underline its verticality.
